While air travel between Krabi and Koh Tao lacks direct routes to coastal cities with airports like Chumphon or Surat Thani, it’s not the most recommended option for reaching Koh Tao.
By ferry
An intriguing option now available from Krabi is the direct overnight ferry journey to Koh Tao. Departing at 9:00 PM and arriving at 6:00 AM the following day, this overnight ferry offers comfortable sleeping accommodations, providing a convenient and scenic passage to the island. Additionally, travelers can access Koh Phangan and Koh Samui from Krabi with late-night ferries departing at 11:00 PM and arriving at 5:00 AM.
As ferry bookings aren’t available online, travelers must secure tickets through local travel agencies or directly at the port.
By Bus
Traveling by bus to Koh Tao from Krabi necessitates a ferry transfer from Surat Thani. The bus journey from Krabi to Surat Thani operates daily, with hourly departures from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, taking approximately two to three hours. Upon reaching Surat Thani, travelers board a ferry bound for Koh Tao.
Travelers can opt for packaged bus and ferry deals from Krabi to Koh Tao or arrange the journey independently, taking the bus to Surat Thani first and then boarding the ferry to Koh Tao.
